| Description | Watauga County Extension is accepting applications for the position of Part-time, Temporary Consumer Horticulture Program Assistant. The purpose of this position is to assist Consumer and Commercial Horticulture Agent with Consumer Horticulture program duties during the time in which the “Campus Improvement and Greenhouse Construction” grant is being administered. The Consumer Horticulture Assistant would assure that regular duties associated with the Consumer Horticulture program are able to be completed during the time when additional hours of effort will be required to complete the fulfillment of the grant. Work could include duties associated with the Master Gardener Volunteer program such as organizing volunteer activities, posting opportunities to the Extension Master Gardener Website, or producing materials such as emailed newsletters. Employees may assist with Consumer Horticulture Program duties such as: answering client questions through email, by phone, or in-person; along with various administrative tasks; assisting with diagnostic activities such as entering samples and following up with clients; and assisting with programs to the public such as marketing, registration, and program implementation. Some work directly related to the grant project may include physical labor.
This is a part-time, temporary non-regular position without benefits that will work approximately 20 hours a week for a total of 400 hours, expected to be completed by the end of September 2025.
