Animal Shelter The Watauga Humane Society operates a shelter to house animals for adoption or quarantine. The shelter is located at 312 Paws Way. Hours of operation are: Tuesday - Friday - 12:30pm - 6:00pm; Saturday & Sunday - 12:30pm - 5:00pm.

Services Provided:

Rabies control Enforcement of state and local laws pertaining to animals Dangerous dog investigation and enforcement Nuisance abatement After hour Emergency Calls Stray animal control Stray animal pickup (time permitting) Trapping of wild dogs and cats Loan traps for trapping wild dogs and cats Lost and Found reports Cruelty Investigations Exposure Reports

Emergencies
We will respond to the following emergencies 24 hours a day:

• Animal Bites
• Dogs killing livestock
• Animal Attacks
• Suspected rabid animals (domestic only)
• Injured animals if owner is not known.

Things we do NOT do:

• Wildlife calls
• Loose livestock
• Reptiles
• Retrieval of animals from trees, under homes, etc.
• Noises or barking
• Pick up dead animals

Adoptions

You may adopt dogs or cats at the Watauga Humane Society facility during regular hours of operation. They are located at 312 Paws Way, Boone NC (828-264-7865) Public hours are Tues-Friday 12:30pm-6:00pm / Saturday & Sunday 12:30pm-5:00pm.

Pet Redemptions
To redeem an animal that was picked up at retained at the Facility you must:

• Pay all fees
• Show proof of rabies vaccination within 72 hours of redemption
