Property Payment Options

 Taxpayers can pay county real estate taxes using the options outlined below.

BY MAIL:
Taxes may be paid by mailing payment with the payment stub from the bottom of the tax bill to the address shown on the stub in the envelope provided.

If you do not have your payment stub, make your check payable and remit to: Watauga County Tax Collector, 842 West King Street, Ste. 21 Boone, NC  28607. Please include your account number and parcel ID on your check.

IN PERSON:
Payments can be made in person at the office of the Tax Collector at 842 West King St., Ste. 21 Boone NC  28607 (1st floor Courthouse).  Also, a Depository Drop Box is available at the front entrance of the Courthouse for your convenience. 

ONLINE:
Research your bill and pay online  


PAY BY E-CHECK:
Citizens can pay their property taxes using their checking account information. You will need your routing number and checking account number to process through e-check. There is a convenience fee of .50 cents when making an e-check payment.

PAY WITH DEBIT/CREDIT CARD:
Citizens can pay their property taxes with a credit or debit card via the Internet or by telephone. You will be charged a convenience fee for this service. This fee is not part of your tax, and Watauga County does not receive the convenience fee. The convenience fee will be displayed on your screen prior to submitting payment and if using the phone system this fee will be provided prior to submitting for payment.

The fee is currently 2.25% of the amount paid on all credit card transactions. For payments made using a Visa or Mastercard Consumer Debit Card, the convenience fee charged will be a flat fee of $3.50.

BY PHONE:
Payment by phone call 1-866-424-8615. The same convenience fees apply as stated above. This fee is not part of your tax, and Watauga County does not receive the convenience fee.
