Law Enforcement Memorial
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. Additional information can be obtained by visiting the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial website.
On July 26, 2014 a dedication ceremony was held for the new Watauga County Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The memorial was dedicated to those local Law Enforcement Officers who have fallen in the line of duty and in service to the citizens of Watauga County.
"Let us hold in honored memory the Law Enforcement Officers who gave their lives protecting and serving the citizens of Watauga County."
