Mission Statement
The mission of Watauga County Communications is to serve the public by providing a vital link between the community and their public safety responders. The Communications Center also coordinates the response of multiple public safety agencies to ensure the right resource gets to the right person as quickly and safely as possible.
The Communications Center currently staffs 14 telecommunicators working across four shifts with a minimum of two telecommunicators on duty at all times. Our telecommunicators receive extensive initial training to include but not limited to North Carolina 911 Board initial course requirements, NC Office of EMS, and International Academies of Emergency Dispatch standards.
