POSITION OPENING
Watauga County is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff II/School Resource Officer (SRO) with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. Position Performs intermediate protective service work enforcing laws, patrolling assigned area, investigating criminal activity, serving civil and criminal papers, ensuring safety of the public, testifying in court, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Specific duties include providing protective services to the local school system. High school diploma or GED required, with moderate experience in law enforcement, and possession of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. County benefit package includes medical, dental and vision insurance; membership with the Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System, 5% supplemental retirement contribution; paid holidays; vacation and sick leave.
