WATAUGA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL MEETING, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2003
The Watauga County Board of Commissioners held a work session to discuss economic development and draft ordinances on junked cars and solid waste on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, in the Manager’s Conference Room of the courthouse. Those present were: Chairman Coffey, Vice-Chairman Hodges, Commissioner Blust, Commissioner Honeycutt, Commissioner Trivette, County Manager Nelson, Assistant County Manager Geouque, County Attorney Rebecca Eggers-Gryder and Planning and Inspections Director Joe Furman.
Chairman Coffey called the meeting to order at 6:02 P.M. Due to the number of people in attendance, Chairman Coffey recessed the meeting in the Manager’s Conference Room and reconvened the meeting at 6:08 P.M. in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room.
The County Manager updated the Board on economic development issues. The Manager stated he and the Assistant County Manager were currently handling questions and inquires about economic development for Watauga County. The Manager stated that Mr. Joe Furman had volunteered to take on the responsibilities associated with economic development. It was the consensus of the Board to allow Mr. Furman to take over the responsibilities of economic development.
Considerable discussion followed on the draft ordinances on junked cars and solid waste. The Board directed the Manager to summarize the changes so that further discussion may take place at their November 18, 2003 meeting.
Commissioner Honeycutt, seconded by Commissioner Blust, made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 P.M.
