WATAUGA COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2001
PUBLIC HEARING – COUNTY GOVERNMENT
The Watauga County Board of Commissioners held a Public Hearing at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 9, 2001 in Courtroom # 1 of the Watauga County Courthouse to allow public comment on the Proposed Interim Development Ordinance.

Chairman Hodges called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. welcoming those in attendance and inviting everyone to a moment of silence.
Mr. Joe Furman, Director of Planning & Inspections was asked by Chairman Hodges to give a brief explanation of the development of the Proposed Ordinance and to summarize it’s the key points.
Chairman Hodges reported that 136 individuals had signed the registration sheet to request time to speak and because of the large number of speakers, the Board was asking each speaker to limit their comments to three (3) minutes.
A total of 118 individuals presented their public comments in regards to proposed development regulations in Watauga County, of which sixty-nine (69) spoke in opposition, forty-seven (47) spoke in favor, and two (2) were neutral. Thirty-one (31) letters in support of and four (4) letters in opposition to the Proposed Ordinance and a petition with over seventeen hundred (1700) names of opponents to the Proposed Ordinance were received.
After hearing all of those desiring to speak, Chairman Hodges thanked everyone in attendance for their time and participation. There being no further public comment, Chairman Hodges declared the public hearing closed at 11:27 P.M.
No Board action was required and none was taken.
