To improve your search results in the GIS system:
- Use partial names. For example, if you want to search for John Edward Doe, enter "Doe, John E"
or "Doe, John"
- Do not type out an entire street address. In our system, sometimes addresses are stored in
different ways. '555 East Hummingbird Lane' may be stored as '555 E HUMMINGBIRD LN' or
'555 EAST HUMMINGBIRD LANE'. If there are not a lot of addresses on a street you are searching,
you can just enter the street name. For example, you could enter "HUMMINGBIRD L" to get all
parcels whose address contains 'HUMMINGBIRD L'.
- Use as little information as possible. The more information that you enter, the more likely it will
be that you will get no results. If you have the PIN number of the parcel you are looking for, that is all
that you need. In fact, if you enter a PIN number, the system will ignore the other fields. Frequently,
the best way to search is to start with just a partial address and a last name. For example, if you are
looking for the parcel that John Edward Doe owns which is located at 555 EAST HUMMINGBIRD LANE, you may
want to try entering "DOE" in the name field and "HUMMINGBIRD" in the address field.
